The 10 best gym management software platforms in 2026 (honest comparison)

We compared the ten gym management software platforms gym owners actually shortlist in 2026, from Mindbody and ABC Glofox to PushPress, Gymdesk and Tuckly: who each is best for, what it costs and where it falls short.

AT Anoop Thomas 7 min read

Short answer: for most independent gyms in 2026, the best gym management software is the one that collects fees automatically in your local payment methods, enforces membership at the door and costs less than one membership a month. For gyms in India, the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, the UAE and Singapore that is Tuckly. For large boutique brands it is still Mindbody or ABC Glofox; for US CrossFit boxes, PushPress or Wodify; for martial arts schools, Zen Planner or Gymdesk. The rest of this guide explains why.

How we compared gym management software

We ranked platforms on what moves a gym’s numbers, not on feature counts. The weightings, roughly in order:

  • Billing in your market. Recurring payments and payment links in the methods your members use (UPI, Direct Debit, ACH, cards, PayNow), failed-payment recovery and transparent fees.
  • Membership enforcement. Check-ins and door access that follow payment status automatically, with biometric, RFID, QR or app credentials.
  • Scheduling. Class caps, waitlists, PT bookings and cancellation rules that members use from an app.
  • Automation. Reminders, receipts and win-backs on the channel members read (WhatsApp in most markets, SMS and email in the US).
  • Compliance. Tax-compliant invoices (GST, VAT, sales tax) with your registration number, exportable reports.
  • Total cost and terms. Subscription plus processing markups, add-ons, branded app fees, contract length and migration help.

1. Tuckly: best all-in-one gym management software for independent gyms

Tuckly is cloud gym management software with regional editions for India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, the UAE and Singapore. Each edition is priced in local currency and connects to local payment gateways (Razorpay and PhonePe in India, Stripe and GoCardless in the UK, Stripe and Ezidebit in Australia, and so on), so members pay by UPI, Direct Debit, ACH, PayNow or card, and every payment produces a GST, VAT or sales-tax invoice with the gym’s registration number.

Best for: owner-run gyms, studios and small chains that want billing, biometric or door access, class scheduling, WhatsApp automation and a member app in one subscription, especially outside the US.

Pricing: three plans. In the US, Starter is $49, Growth $99 and Pro $199 a month; in India, ₹999, ₹1,999 and ₹3,999. Annual billing gives two months free. No setup fee and no Tuckly transaction fee on top of gateway charges. See pricing.

  • Recurring billing and payment links with automatic retries and reminders
  • Fingerprint, face, RFID and QR check-ins; 24/7 door and turnstile control on Pro
  • Class scheduling with caps, waitlists and PT booking from the app
  • WhatsApp Business API, SMS and email automation
  • Tax-compliant invoices, lead CRM, reports, multi-location dashboard

Where it falls short: there is no free plan (a 14-day trial instead), workout programming is basic compared with CrossFit specialists, and access hardware is bought separately. Gyms that want a consumer marketplace to find new clients will not get that here.

2. Mindbody: best for large boutique studios and wellness brands

Mindbody is the largest and oldest platform in the category, used by yoga and Pilates studios, boutique fitness, spas and salons. Its consumer marketplace app puts your classes in front of people searching nearby, and its scheduling, packages and staff payroll tools are deep.

Best for: multi-studio boutique brands with marketing budget and a team to run the software.

Pricing: by quote, usually with an annual contract; budget well over $100 a month before the branded app and processing fees.

Where it falls short: cost, contract length and complexity are the complaints we hear most. Traditional gyms with biometric devices, cash collections or non-card payment methods are not its target customer.

3. ABC Glofox: best for boutique studios that want a branded app

Glofox, now part of ABC Fitness, is built for boutique studios and franchise brands. Its branded member app and lead-management tools are polished, and it integrates with several access-control partners.

Best for: boutique and franchise studios that sell class packs and memberships through a branded app.

Pricing: by quote; annual contracts are typical.

Where it falls short: pricing is opaque until you talk to sales, and the platform assumes card-based recurring billing. Gyms that need local payment methods or local tax invoices usually need workarounds.

4. Zen Planner: best for martial arts schools and CrossFit affiliates

Zen Planner (part of Daxko) has long served martial arts schools, CrossFit affiliates and boutique gyms with belt and skill tracking, workout tracking, scheduling and integrated payments.

Best for: martial arts and CrossFit gyms in the US that want programme-specific features.

Pricing: from about $99 a month, depending on member count.

Where it falls short: the interface shows its age in places, and payments and messaging are US-centric.

5. PushPress: best free plan for new US CrossFit boxes

PushPress is popular with CrossFit and functional fitness gyms in the US. Its free plan with in-house payment processing lets a new box run memberships, scheduling and a member app without a software fee, then add paid bundles for workout tracking, marketing automation and more. See our full PushPress alternatives guide and the Tuckly vs PushPress comparison.

Best for: new or small US boxes that want to start free and grow into paid tiers.

Pricing: free plan; paid bundles listed from roughly $79 to $559 a month in late 2026.

Where it falls short: payments, tax handling and messaging are designed for the US, there is no WhatsApp automation, biometric check-in is not native and bundle pricing climbs quickly once you want everything.

6. Gymdesk: best for simplicity and martial arts schools

Gymdesk (formerly Martial Arts on Rails) is deliberately simple: memberships, billing, attendance, scheduling and a clean member portal, with month-to-month pricing and door access through Kisi or its own hardware.

Best for: small gyms and martial arts schools that value a fast, uncluttered interface.

Pricing: from $75 a month, month to month.

Where it falls short: fewer advanced marketing and multi-location tools, and limited localisation for payments and tax outside North America.

7. TeamUp: best for class-based businesses in the UK and Europe

TeamUp was built in the UK for class-first businesses: boutique studios, CrossFit boxes, yoga and dance. Pricing scales with active customers, there is no long contract, and UK gyms get Direct Debit through GoCardless.

Best for: class-based studios in the UK and Europe that want transparent, month-to-month pricing.

Pricing: tiered by active member count; around $100 a month and up.

Where it falls short: it is not designed for biometric-heavy traditional gyms or for POS and inventory.

8. GymMaster: best built-in 24/7 access control

GymMaster, from New Zealand, bundles software with its own access-control hardware, which makes it a frequent choice for 24/7 and unmanned gyms. Billing, scheduling and a member app are included. We cover it in detail in the best gym software with door access.

Best for: 24-hour gyms that want one vendor for software and door hardware.

Pricing: from about $99 a month, rising with member count and add-ons.

Where it falls short: the interface is functional rather than modern, and total cost rises with hardware and SMS add-ons.

9. Wodify: best for CrossFit boxes that want workout tracking

Wodify pairs gym management (Core) with workout tracking and leaderboards (Perform), which keeps CrossFit athletes engaged and gives coaches programming tools.

Best for: CrossFit boxes where workout tracking is central to the member experience.

Pricing: from about $99 a month, with add-ons for performance tracking and marketing.

Where it falls short: it is CrossFit-specific; a traditional gym pays for features it will not use.

10. Virtuagym: best for European clubs wanting coaching and nutrition

Virtuagym, from Amsterdam, combines club management with a branded member app that includes workout and nutrition coaching. It is multi-language and popular with larger clubs and chains in Europe.

Best for: mid-size and large European clubs that want coaching content inside the app.

Pricing: by quote.

Where it falls short: quote-based pricing and a large feature set make it heavier than a single-site gym needs.

How to choose the right one for your gym

  1. Independent gym outside the US (India, UK, Australia, Canada, UAE, Singapore): Tuckly, then TeamUp for class-only studios in the UK and Europe.
  2. Independent gym in the US: Tuckly or Gymdesk for simplicity; PushPress if you want to start free.
  3. CrossFit box: PushPress or Wodify in the US; Tuckly or Zen Planner elsewhere.
  4. Martial arts school: Zen Planner or Gymdesk; Tuckly if you need local payments and WhatsApp.
  5. Boutique or franchise brand: Mindbody or ABC Glofox if marketplace exposure or a franchise app matters more than price.
  6. 24/7 unmanned gym: Tuckly Pro with your own door hardware, or GymMaster for a bundled hardware option.

Whichever you shortlist, run the same test on each: import 20 real members, send yourself a payment link, pay it, check in, cancel a class and look at the invoice. The platform that makes that loop effortless is the one your staff will actually use.

Our verdict

Most of the platforms above are good; the differences are about fit. If you run an independent gym and your members pay by UPI, Direct Debit or local wallets, want WhatsApp reminders and need proper tax invoices, Tuckly is the best gym management software for you in 2026, and you can test every feature free for 14 days. If you are a US boutique brand or a CrossFit box deep in the US ecosystem, Mindbody, Glofox, PushPress or Wodify remain excellent choices. Use the membership pricing calculator and churn calculator to see what better billing and retention are worth before you decide.
